THE SEVEN 'MODES' OF THE MAJOR SCALE These are my seven main fingerboard shapes for learning the major scale modes. The way to start is by modulation from mixolydian to dorian, back to mixolydian then to major on each root note. Play these scales at positions from four up to eleven, to cover the eight root notes 'A' to 'E'.
